Tonight is Opening Night for Discover Color

Frankie...discovering green

After months of blogging, tweeting, Instagramming and kickstarting Discover Color is finally going to be a real life performance piece tonight! Tech went well if very very fast last night. I had written up a to-the-minute breakdown of the proceedings and it actually ended up being more or less dead on. We cleaned up the technical elements in about 45 minutes which is remarkable speed even for such a short piece.

I was very happy with the final results. We shot video and once the piece has performed tonight and tomorrow night we'll release that video for all those in remote places to see. I'll be interested in seeing if the audience reaction is what I hoped for. Since the piece is a part of a festival  there will be a fair number of uninitiated audience member for whom the piece is totally new. My hope is that the title and program note clue them in to the intention of the piece and challenge them to think about how color effects perception. Of course, there is no way to guarantee such a thing, but if the audience comes away at least thinking about color a little, then it will be worth the effort.

I'll have more once the show plays tonight...until then wish us luck!
