I finally had a little time yesterday to put together a performance video for Discover Color. I've updated the page on the site to include the video, photos, and bios of the cast. The Discover Color Dance project has come to a close, at least for now. I've had a couple of weeks since to think about it since the show closed and I have a few ideas for what the next iteration of the Discover Color Project might be.
- Color in retail - many retailers simply bathe the inside of their stores with linear fluorescent lighting paying little thought to how the color of that light might effect shoppers. I'd love to collaborate with a retail association and conduct an experiment into how color in lighting my effect shopper and staff behavior.
- Color in Healing - There has been some research into the power of color to influence healing, but precious little on the quality of color in lighting to do the same. Remember there is no such thing as white light. What color white promotes healing? Controlling for other factors is there a color temperature we should be shooting for?
- Color in public spaces - our public spaces are often devoid of color. What if we introduced color into the public sphere and let people discover it? What would that do to our public spaces?
- How does lighting effect paint - I would love to collaborate with a major paint manufacturer to demonstrate the power of lighting on color choices on a large scale. When considering paint colors, it's so very important to consider what light accompanies the walls in question. It is the combination of lighting and the paint that make the final wall color.
